A career in care can be hugely rewarding. You get to make a direct difference to someone’s life and no two days are the same. Many roles in adult social care are more about experience, values and qualities rather than qualifications, but you can still develop your skills with on-the-job training or formal qualifications like NVQ’s and apprenticeships. While every role requires some core life skills like teamwork and problem solving, it’s your values, behaviour and attitude that will set you apart. Depending on the specific job role, you should be prepared to work set shifts and weekends as care is 24/7 365 days!
